Well, some wrist protection is better than no wrist protection; however we don't feel they will offer the same level of protection as Flexmeter. Take a look at these fractures here that have occurred beneath short rigid palm-side guards. They are not ideally designed for falls on snow, and do not absorb force as effectively as Flexmeter. We believe that Flexmeter will provide you with much better protection. Read more about the benefits of Flexmeter here.
NO. Flexmeter was not included in that study because Flexmeter had not yet been released. That study compared a variation of the short semi-rigid palm-side guard with short rigid guards on the back of the wrist, as well as short rigid dual (palm-side and back-side) guards; none of which are like Flexmeter's revolutionary long, flexible design. Therefore, the results of that study are NOT applicable to Flexmeter. Since their release, studies have shown Flexmeter to be the most effective guard available for preventing wrist fracture. Even advanced riders are at risk of wrist injury and should use Flexmeter protection. Though advanced riders do not fall as often as beginners, generally advanced riders take falls at greater speeds, from greater heights and with greater impact than beginners. So, there is potential for their wrists to receive damaging levels of force. Advanced riders like the comfort, mobility and protection of Flexmeter; it is radically different than any type of wrist protection you have seen or used. Learn more here.
This is to specifically prevent wrist hyperextension (extreme bending back of wrist). Wrist hyperextension is the leading cause of wrist fractures, and Flexmeter works on the back of your wrist by absorbing force and restricting hyperextension. Learn more here.
It depends on where you reside. There are Flexmeter distributors in several countries, and if your country of residence has a distributor they will be able to serve you better. Here is a list of distributors and their email contact. If your country is not listed there, we may be able to ship to you, please contact us.
The gloves/mitts should fit snugly yet comfortably around your wrist and hand. The striated flex zone on the Flexmeter guard, visable through the Guard Viewer, should sit directly on your wrist to allow for nearly normal wrist flexion and extension. (Of course the double protector model will allow considerably less wrist movement than the single protector model.) Finger length is not too important as long as they are not too tight; a little space in the ends of the fingers is fine. (Kids protectors should also fit such that the striated flex zone on the guard is directly on the wrist. The guard should fit comfortably around the child's hand, wrist and forearm.)

Our research has shown that the stand-alone wrist guard will not usually fit under the snowboard gloves you currently own. For a separate glove to properly fit over the stand-alone guard, the glove needs to be a bit larger than normal. Since a new glove usually has to be purchased to accommodate the stand-alone guard, we recommend just purchasing the integrated Flexmeter glove-guard combination. It will fit better, and research shows that it offers slightly better protection than the stand-alone guard under a ‘normal’ glove. We stock the small size stand-alone guard only for children whose hands are too small to fit into the small size Flexmeter glove or mitt.
Flexmeter comes with a 12-month warranty during which time products are guaranteed to be free of manufacturer defects. If a manufacturer defect is discovered during that time, we will pay to have the product returned and ship you a replacement. This warranty applies to manufacturer defects only, NOT to the regular wear and tear of use while snowboarding.
To replace a defective product during the warranty period, please contact us to arrange for returning the product. When we have received your damaged item, we will verify that it is defective and we will replace it.
In the case that we make an error with your order (e.g. wrong product, wrong size) or if the product is deemed defective upon arrival, you have the option of:
a) exchanging the unused product for a different item
or
b) returning the unused product for a full refund
In either case we will pay all of the shipping costs.
From the day you receive the product, you have one (1) week to contact us to arrange for a return or exchange, and another week to deliver the unused product to us in the original wrapping with the original documents (2 weeks total time). Upon receipt of the item, we will inspect it to verify that it has not been used or mistreated, and depending on your wishes we will send a replacement or issue a refund.
Please save your invoice that is included with the Flexmeter product, it will be required for all warranty and return transactions.
Mix some mild soap and warm water in a container (sink, tub or a bucket). Throw in the gloves/mitts and shake them around in the soap-water. You can even let them soak for a couple minutes. Discard the soap-water, fill the container with clean water and then rinse the gloves/mitts well.
You may want to change the rinse water a couple times to make sure you get all the soap out of the gloves/mitts. Gently squeeze the excess water out of the gloves/mitts, then roll them up in a towel and squeeze them some more. Then hang them up somewhere warm to dry out.
Do not use a heater, hairdryer or other such device to dry them, because the material may be damaged. Be warned, it may take a couple of days for them to dry completely, so don't wash them if you plan to use them soon. After they are totally dry, if you feel they need more waterproofing, you can spray on some waterproof spray (available at outdoor stores). Spray this on outdoors and let them dry thoroughly as directed.
